Commentary
Icon #004 is special for three reasons.

First, because it is almost abstract, which is quite unusual, if not unique, in the first hundred icons of the collection.

Asteroid Eros in February 2000

Second, because this icon is the first to feature two colours that will be repeated regularly later on, two of my favourite colours. These are Indian Red Deep and Gold Brown from Windsor & Newton. I am not referring to Indian Red, which is still available, but to Indian Red Deep, tragically discontinued by Windsor & Newton.

And third, because of the appearance of the meteorite, which ties this icon to #001. In fact, as it is an image more in keeping with the format and type of composition of the collection as a whole, I had long considered making this the first Twilight Icon. I finally decided to let #001 be the first (even if it is a quick pencil sketch) and have this occupy #004.
